Casino News: Facebook to Allow Advertising of Online Gaming

Facebook has undergone a number of large changes recently, including video chat, new privacy settings ... and now, the promotion of online gaming, and other games of chance has been allowed. This move has been welcomed by fans and online casinos alike -- the new policy means that online gaming companies will find it much easier to target their selected demographic. The change will inevitably lead to a surge in revenue for Facebook too, as gaming companies look to cash in on the more relaxed regulations.

Despite being allowed to advertise on Facebook, there are still tight guidelines which will govern the way in which online gaming companies target potential players. Facebook cannot contravene local advertising laws, which means they must ensure commercials for online gambling do not appear in jurisdictions where such advertising is banned. In the United States of America, online gaming is banned. It is thought that the new adverts will not be seen by Facebook members in America.

Facebook must also approve any adverts promoting games of chance, online lotteries, and online casinos before they go live to the site. The minimum price of a Facebook advertising campaign is $30,000. This high threshold limit means that only more successful gambling sites will be able to take advantage of the new rules. What will this hold for the future of online gaming? Despite a tough economic climate, many sites are performing better than expected, and with the potential to reach millions of Facebook users, could it mean these companies become even more successful?
