Casino News: Pause for a Moment and Remember Steve Jobs
Last Wednesday, Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, passed away. After a long battle with pancreatic cancer, Steve died, leaving a legacy that will live on in our hands, eyes, and ears. Not only did he shape the history and future of technology as we know it, he also had a major influence in mobile gaming. His presence in the rapidly expanding mobile gaming industry is perhaps one of the strongest, and if you have ever experienced the cool, intuitive delight of iPhone gaming, then you have Mr Jobs to thank.
The Apple iPhone was launched in 2007, and it ushered in a new era in the online gaming industry. It meant players could access poker, casino, sportsbook and much more, directly from the nifty iPhone device. Although the iPhone was not the first smart phone in the world, it certainly took the world by storm.
In 2010, Steve Jobs launched the first iPad tablet computer. It didn't take long before some of the biggest sports and online casino companies created apps specifically designed for the product. The launch of the iPad 2 saw a flurry of online casino operators creating their own gaming applications. Today, accessing a galaxy of online casino games is a mere finger swipe away on the iPhone and iPad.
Who knows what the future holds for Apple without Jobs at the helm? One of the theories is that Apple could be set to revamp the television.
Whatever happens, it's certainly worth while pausing for a moment to appreciate exactly what Steve Jobs did for online gaming, and the digital entertainment industry in general. And for that, we are exceptionally grateful.
