Casino Venetian Review
Casino Venetian Review
If you’ve ever been to Las Vegas, then the chances are that you are aware of the name Casino Venetia. A popular land based casino in Sin City, Casino Venetian is now attempting to expand into the online market.
There are few sites that arrive on the online casino scene with the potential to make as much of an impact as Casino Venetian. The brand recognition that this site had before it ever arrived on the online market could make a massive difference, if the site doesn’t opt to just tread water and expect the name to be enough.
The online casino industry may have many obvious similarities with the world of brick and mortar casinos, but there are also a lot of differences between the two as well, and this is something Casino Venetian needs to be aware of.
Often, the most successful online casinos are those which only exist online, so if Casino Venetian isn’t careful, it’s greatest strength could also become its downfall.
So, does Casino Venetian put in the effort necessary to stand out as an online casino in its own right? Or is it more sensible to just pop into the casino next time you’re in Vegas, and leave the online version well alone?
Design and theme
If you are looking for anything vaguely resembling evidence that Casino Venetian understands that it needs to handle things differently online, you certainly won’t find it within the design concept here.
Not only does the design theme feel far more suited to Vegas than it does, the Venetian Vegas brand takes pride of place in it, as if the fact that a big building with the brand name on it existing in the city is enough to ensure online success.
There’s other images too, and they’re painfully generic, including other shots of the Vegas skyline, and putting models holding cards and staring at the camera in such a way that they actually look more unimpressed by your presence than anything else.
Clearly this design concept is intended to bring to mind lavishness and decadence, to tempt in those high-rollers that all casinos covet, but anyone who has spent any time playing at online casinos will likely be immediately put off by the frankly appallingly derivative approach that Casino Venetian takes towards its design.
It isn’t that Casino Venetian looks bad, it just looks so predictable that it’s impossible to get in any way excited about it.
A brand with the gravitas and legacy of Casino Venetian must have some great connections in the casino world, so one would assume that titles here are offered by a wide range of software developers, right?
In fact, no, not even close. Games here come from the less than impressive combination of Inbet Games, PlayPearls, and The Art of Games, and that is it. No BetSoft, IGT, NetEnt, Microgaming, NextGen, Playtech, Quickspin, Thunderkick, Yggdrasil, none of the names you would think of when imaging who may be providing the games at a casino that is clearly trying to put itself forward as a great place to play.
The lesser known names providing the games here are nice, in as much as you’ll get to play games you might not find easily other places, but there needs to be a collection of known games and trusted developers as well, and Casino Venetian just doesn’t supply them.
Casino Venetian had all the potential in the world to take the iGaming scene by storm on its arrival, instead they decided to phone it in, assuming their name would be enough, and it almost definitely won’t be.
