They say it’s not what you know, it’s who you know, but in the iGaming industry, new developers benefit from a combination of the two.
That is certainly the case with new kid on the block Northern Lights Gaming. Launched in 2017 by a group of industry veterans with over 50 years of experience between them, big deals with the likes of SG Gaming, Sky Vegas, and Yggdrasil are proof of how highly respected those behind this new developer are.
However, that experience only helps open the door, if Northern Lights are going to impress players and prove the validity of the faith of their clients, they’re going to have to do something special.

A quick view of the Northern Lights Gaming website shows quickly that this is not a developer lacking in confidence.
The experience of the developer’s creators is mentioned a lot, alongside big boasts, like the company’s “aim of creating the best high-end video slots to ever hit the market”.
All the executives of the company are introduced on the website, alongside caricature style depictions of each, which is probably supposed to be quirky, but definitely stumbles closer to cringeworthy.
With the claims of creating the best slots we’ve seen hit the market, the bar has been set high by Northern Lights, and the first two games they have released do not come close to reaching it.
Electric Wilds has little to offer in terms of innovation or excitement, and Rocky’s Gold is yet another slot based on mining and the Gold Rush.
The talent is clearly there though, and Northern Lights may well have just been dipping their collective toe in the water up until now, we wouldn’t be surprised if Northern Lights Gaming’s next release took a big step forward.
