Platipus is a UK based gaming studio that started life back in 2010, and has been quietly releasing titles ever since.
While travelling somewhat under the radar compared to the more established giants of the industry, Platipus has built a fan base for itself with attention to detail, and a dedication to creating unique gaming options, some of the time.
Platipus priorities innovation above all other aspects of gaming, with a focus on casino applications, especially slot games.
Staffed by a team of designers that they describe as “very skilled and creative” (which could not be said for their copywriters, it appears) Platipus tries to keep ahead of the curve.
The way that this developer looks to stand out is to study industry trends, both from a technical and consumer standpoint, to understand where the industry is going, and how to stay one step beyond it.

Originality may be what Platipus claims to be the order of the day, but it is not consistently true from their output.
Aztec Temple, Book of Egypt, Crystal Sevens, Fruity Sevens, Jewel Bang (although, granted, that’s a solid name), Legend of Atlantis, and Mistress of Amazon are proof that Platipus is not above using a well-worn theme for their slot games, and the design and gameplay does nothing to separate these slots from their competition either.
There are some titles that feel fresher, Crocoman is a lot of fun, While Magical Mirror and Magical Wolf, while not that original in terms of concept, have exciting and new feeling designs to them.
In terms of gameplay, Legend of Atlantis is arguably the best in the collection, while Cleo’s Gold and Princess of Birds are also worth checking out.
Platipus hasn’t released the slot that will make their name yet, but they are certainly capable of doing so.
