BoVegas Casino review

Is it okay to ask for there not to be any more online casinos released with Vegas in their name at this point?  This is a question that was clearly never asked in front of the creators of BoVegas, another online casino with Vegas in its name.

This isn’t the only way that the name of BoVegas feels derivative either (despite it being comfortably enough on its own) as the name is very reminiscent of Bovada, another online gambling site.  The fact that BoVegas feels like it exists in the state of Bovada despite there being no connection between the two sites is an issue. It is very possible that this is entirely coincidental, or an attempt at a funny gag on the part of the site’s creator, but the first doesn’t really matter, and the latter has been wholly unsuccessful.

When a new site hits the online casino market, standing out is of the utmost importance, and BoVegas simply doesn’t do that in any way. Of course, there is always the ability to be surprised, so let’s delve a little deeper into BoVegas to see if there’s any treats and surprises hidden away (spoiler alert – there aren’t, at all).

Design and theme

BoVegas is the online casino version of painting-by-numbers, a predictable site, with a predictable concept, and predictable design to go along with it.

If you’re playing ‘online casino site cliché bingo’ at home, let’s get a few of those crossed off. Firstly, you have the dark red and gold colour scheme, clearly intended to create the image of affluence and sophistication (and failing horribly), then there’s the night time shot of the Vegas skyline (complete with moving lasers, which somehow makes it even worse).  That’s it for clichés, but mainly because that’s it for anything, there’s very little else of note here.

Navigation is much as you’d expect, everything is fairly easy to find, but not in a way that impresses, more in a minimum effort has been made here kind of way.

There is one plus point to the design at BoVegas, and, in the interest of fairness, we’ll focus on that for a bit.  If you scroll down the homepage, you will find a classic looking slot machine, pull the lever (by clicking on it) and the reels will spin to reveal three games available at the site, which you can access instantly by clicking on them.

This is a really nice touch, and one that would earn BoVegas a lot of forgiveness were it not for the fact that this is clearly a trick designed to take attention away from the disappointingly small number of games available at this online casino site.

Games

Talking of the lacklustre games collection, let’s take a look at that too.  With most online casinos in the modern market, you will find games from numerous high-profile software developers, having games from just one provider is no longer enough to be competitive and all online casinos understand that.  At least, you’d expect them to.

Alas, BoVegas again surprises us with its mediocrity here, with games coming from Real Time Gaming and nobody else.

RTG have some excellent games in their collection, and having their entre portfolio means that a site can offer slots, table and card games, video poker, bingo, and keno, but very little of each.  A good developer to have as part of a pack, certainly, but not even close to sufficient on its own, meaning that BoVegas can’t even stand up against the most average of online casinos.

It’s difficult to imagine how any operator could have got it so wrong, but BoVegas proves that its possible.
